Program Note

A Brief Glow in the Dark was composed from March 9th to March 22nd, 2014. The title of the work is derived from the poem The Sea in Winter by Derek Mahon:

“One day,
perhaps, the words will find their mark

and leave a brief glow in the dark,

effect mutations of dead things

into a form that nearly sings—

waste paper left to indicate
our long day’s journey into night.”
